Røldal stave church is visited by around 12,000 every year, and a pilgrim center will have central a role to play in presenting the old church for visitors of all categories. The pilgrimage history associated with this place is of main focus, and the center will also function as additional space for the church in Røldal, including with church offices. It is expected that the premises will be used by many different groups; school students, researchers and clerics as well as filling the ward's own needs.
